Excess of Sin Will Sink the Soul

Published: 23/03/2020

Chaos at the Port

The last ship's departure time was nearing, and "No one will be left behind; we will all board the ship," uttered the elderly, observing the chaos, to encourage awaiting passengers who were striving to catch the last ship and were developing a fear of missing the ship or chance of inability to board the ship because of the increased number of passengers.

The Joy Turned Havoc:

As the overloaded ship sailed on, the operator's steady hand and warm smile reassured passengers eager to reach their destination. Laughter and chatter filled the air, but the tranquillity and joy were short-lived. A fierce tempest swept in, its howling winds and crashing waves plunging navigators into crisis. Passengers' delight transformed into chaos: screams pierced the air, and frantic faces scrambled for safety.

Overloaded Ship Vs. Overloaded Soul

Amidst the chaos, an elderly passenger's anguished cry pierced the air: "What wrong have we done?" Their trembling voice conveyed remorse as they reflected on past actions. "We welcomed everyone with humility," they said, "yet our past wrongdoings must have provoked God's wrath." Invoking Wisdom of Solomon 9:15, they solemnly reminded the crowd, "For a perishable body weighs down the soul." This poignant scripture prompted a call to reflection: "Let us seek genuine repentance for our past wrongdoings." With urgency, they proclaimed, "We've overloaded the ship, but it's the soul, burdened by sin, that requires true repentance – and that's what truly matters to God."

True Repentance Counts:

As the crowd poured out their hearts in repentance, a palpable sense of relief washed over them. Their faces, once etched with worry, now radiated hope. About thirty minutes passed, and with renewed spirits, they opened their eyes to the navigator's welcome announcement: "We've reached the shore; it's time to disembark." With gratitude, they stepped off the ship joyfully praising and thanking God, leaving their burdens behind.

Saving Immortality:

The elderly, with wisdom-born conviction, understood the soul's value far surpasses the body's. They knew that if the ship sank, countless lives would be lost, body and soul. Urgently, they echoed Luke 13:5: "Unless you repent, you too will all perish." This warning aligns with Wisdom of Solomon 9:15, cautioning against letting our perishable bodies weigh down our immortal souls. With this, they pressed for repentance.

A Call to Action: In Times of Uncertainty:

Natural disasters and calamities remind us to prepare not only physically but also spiritually. Jesus urges us, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20). This invitation emphasizes repentance as preparation for God's presence within, making us His devotees.
As Psalm 91 promises, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty" (Psalm 91:1). No calamity can harm those who dwell in Him.
Let us heed this call to spiritual preparedness, seeking refuge in God's presence.

A Live Example:

The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent quarantines presented a transformative opportunity for introspection, self-reflection, and spiritual growth. Many people:

1. Re-evaluated priorities and values.
2. Focused on personal relationships and faith.
3. Discovered new meanings and purposes.
4. Realized their soul became a dwelling place for truth.

As Jesus invites in John 14:23, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him." This promise resonates deeply, reminding us that:

- God desires intimacy with us.
- Our hearts can become His dwelling place.
- Truth and love converge in Jesus.

May this pandemic-inspired reflection inspire continued spiritual growth and deeper connection with God.

A Universal Goal:

If only people worldwide repented, embracing divine love and forgiveness, imagine:

- Hearts transformed, filled with compassion and kindness
- Conflicts dissolving, replaced by understanding and harmony
- Nations united, celebrating diversity and unity
- Families strengthened, founded on love and respect
- Individuals freed from burdens, living in joy and purpose

As Jesus teaches, "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:31). Let's strive for a world where:

- Repentance brings renewal
- Forgiveness fosters unity
- Love conquers division
- Peace reigns supreme

May this vision inspire global transformation, guiding humanity toward:

- Inner peace
- Interpersonal harmony
- International understanding
- Universal love

Together, let's pursue this universal goal, cultivating a world where divine love and peace thrive.

A Sincere Prayer:
