Self Reflection

A Call to Compassion

A Heartfelt Conversation:

My lawyer friend became emotional during our spiritual conversation on poverty and hunger. He prayed instantly, 'O! Lord! Please give me enough to share with those in need.' When he finished, I couldn’t stop myself from asking, 'Why not pray to Him to directly deliver to those in need?' I continued, my curiosity piqued, 'Why would God work through you instead of directly helping those in need?'" When I finished, he nodded thoughtfully, with a gentle smile, agreeing that praying directly to God to deliver for the needy was the more appropriate.

Penetrating Deep into Righteousness:

On finding him reflecting my perspective, I referenced Matthew 13:12, 'For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.' As Scripture reminds us, God rewards responsible stewardship. I elaborated, 'God scrutinizes how we share our resources with others.' I continued, 'Instead of asking for more, we must utilize what we have wisely, pleasing Him with our stewardship.

A Call to Action:

I urged, 'We must repent for misusing and hoarding resources, for God rewards generosity and holds accountable those who are selfish.

The Alarming Wealth Gap:

The wealth gap is widening alarmingly, as the rich continue to accumulate wealth exponentially, while marginalized communities suffer disproportionately from poverty, hunger, and starvation. Moreover, World Bank data reveals a shocking disparity: the wealthiest 1% now own over 38% of global wealth, whereas the poorest 50% possess less than 1%."

A Sincere prayer:

Furthermore, may leaders, governments, officials, and the global public use their authority to eradicate financial differences, ensuring prosperity for all. May the wealthy prioritize heavenly treasures over earthly riches, recognizing riches can hinder entry into the kingdom of heaven as Matthew 19:23-24 warns: Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Moreover, may the rich understand that accumulating wealth will not save them, but sharing will save lives and prevent starvation. As Matthew 6:19-21 teaches, 'Do not store up treasures on earth... but store up treasures in heaven.'
May our hearts be transformed to value eternal riches.
May God guide us towards a more compassionate world."

The Path Forward:

Let people experience equal opportunity world-wide.

Amen!

Praise be to God, Thanks be to God.
