Self Reflection

Embracing a Lifetime of Purity and Positivity

A Timeless Reminder:

The lady selling old newspapers told the boy buying them, 'Don't tamper with the scale (don't cheat on the weight).' The boy replied, 'Ma'am, I'm fasting before the festival; I won't cheat.' The lady said, 'Don't come to my shop after the festival.' The boy asked, 'Why, Ma'am?' The lady replied, 'Because you'll cheat after the festival!'

"The lady continued with the vendor, referring to the biblical verse (Wisdom 9:15) states, 'For a perishable body weighs down the soul, and this earthly tent burdens the thoughtful mind.' As the scripture reminds us, she explained to the young vendor, our human mortal body weighs down our soul with sin - when we see evil, speak evil, hear evil, or do evil.

The Weight of Our Actions:

The vendor reflected intently on the weight of his own actions while the lady observed the young vendor's reflective gesture.

Beyond Festival Vows:

'Let's not limit vows to festival seasons; instead, vow not to see, hear, speak, and do evil for life,' she said. Highlighting Virat Kohli's rigorous practice, she added, 'Similarly, perfecting vows in daily life leads to a virtuous life.'

She continued, 'Temporary vows cheat us of true purity. For instance, people abstain from intoxicants during festivals, then consume double the amount afterward, saying, "God is happy we abstained!" But can we truly please God with temporary gestures? Furthermore, lifelong purity is what truly matters. If we don't commit to lifelong abstinence, we'll cheat ourselves of genuine and lasting purity. Will God be pleased with our temporary abstinence or our lifelong commitment?'

A Call to Lifelong Commitment:

If only officials, leaders, and the public would stop cheating purity, they wouldn't fill people's minds with impurities through unnecessary speeches and actions. Officials would perform duties with purity, the public would respect pure living, and governments would suppress impurities with their full strength.

Take vows for life:

This article emphasizes that maintaining purity and positivity throughout life is important, not just during festivals or special occasions. It encourages everyone to make lifelong commitments to avoid evil thoughts, words, and actions, and to practice purity in all aspects of life.

A Prayer for Universal Transformation:

May all individuals take a lifelong commitment to purity and positivity, transcending temporary vows. May they commit to goodness, cultivating positivity in every aspect of life, avoiding harmful thoughts, words, and actions. May this lead to a profound and lasting transformation, touching hearts and minds universally.

Observe Lifelong Vows, Embrace Lifelong Commitments.
