What is Prayer? (Part-VI)

Prayer: Glorifying and Magnifying God

Prayer is synonymous with glorifying and magnifying God. There exists a give-and-take relationship between humanity and God. In fact, humanity cannot give anything to God, as whatever we have belongs to God. Yet God desires to take from humanity to give away, as He indicates what He desires to take, as written in Scripture:

But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. (Luke 12:31, NIV)

The Give-and-Take Relationship:

On analyzing the above verse, we observe that the first part of the verse - But seek his kingdom – is humanity’s GIVE, meaning absolute trustworthiness, surrender to God, which comes from love and concern for one's own soul to keep it pure and holy throughout life. Whereas, the second part of the verse - and these things will be given to you as well – is humanity’s TAKE from God, meaning receiving lifelong provisions from God, such as bread, shelter, clothing, peace, joy, and happiness to live a healthy life.

A Perfect Example: The Virgin Mother Mary

The Virgin Mother Mary perfectly fulfilled her GIVE and received her TAKE, embracing God fully in her entire being, in her soul and body. Mary's desire to keep her soul pure and holy, pleasing to God, led Him to choose her as His mother. She found God in this world, in her soul and body, as she absolutely followed the Scripture:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. =(Matthew 5:3, NIV)

Mary loved her soul by consistently showing concern for it. Thus, she attained the holiness and purity of her soul to such an extent that her worldly home became heaven.

A Heavenly Abode:

Do not be surprised with this, as where there is God, there is heaven, true love, humility, forgiveness, compassion, endurance, patience, and peace. Do we possess these qualities? Is our home filled with heavenly peace? Is our home a temple of God? Indeed, these are questions we should ponder.

The Greatest Prayer:

There is no greater prayer than loving and caring for our own soul, a truth underscored by all biblical teachings and instructions. In my upcoming articles, I will elaborate on this concept, exploring how our soul's purpose is to magnify and glorify God forever, as affirmed in Scripture:

"everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made." (Isaiah 43:7, NIV)

As we delve deeper into the concept of continuous prayer, we will explore the understanding of the human body and soul, and how to unceasingly glorify our Lord God.
