What is Prayer? (Part-II)

Published: 08/07/2022

Possibility: Unceasing Praying

You may be wondering how to pray unceasingly, which means glorifying God continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. There must be a biblical base to it. This raises an important question: Is there a biblical verse that can help us understand the continuity of prayer? Yes, there are several verses that can help us understand this concept. We will explore some of them further to understand the continuity of prayer.

As we delve into this concept, let's examine a biblical example. One such verse is: "And Mary said: 'My soul glorifies the Lord'" (Luke 1:46, NIV)

This verse raises an important question: Who is Mary? The responses I received were:

• Jesus' mother
• Virgin mother
• Mother of all
• Joseph's fiancée
• Daughter of Ann and Joachim
• Immaculate mother
• and many more

All the answers are correct, but there's another correct answer I've been longing to hear, one that has eluded me so far: that answer being: Mary is, above all, a human being.

Mary A Human Being Like Us:

Furthermore, in understanding Mary's humanity, this answer - Mary is, above all, a human being - is supported by Scripture, specifically Matthew 22:30, which states that marriage takes place on earth, not in heaven. As a result, we see Mary as a human being, engaged to Joseph.

I'm explaining this because Mary's soul magnifies and glorifies God. This substantiates that a person's soul can continually and unceasingly magnify and glorify God.

God Desires Humanity for Himself Only:

As we seek to understand our role in glorifying God, we must also consider God's desire for humanity. Now, it's essential for us as human beings to wholeheartedly seek the answer to the question: Is my, a human being’s, soul magnifying and glorifying God as Mary’s soul?

This question is essential, as God has created human souls to continuously and unceasingly glorify Him in this world and beyond in eternal life – not less than 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year, as stated in scripture:

"everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made." (Isaiah 43:7, NIV)

To fulfil this desire, it's essential to gain a divine understanding of the human body and soul.

Understanding Human Body & Soul:

As we seek to understand our role in glorifying God, we must also consider the divine nature of our humanity. To magnify and glorify God as He desires 24/7/365, it is necessary for humanity to have the perpetual knowledge of the human body and soul. Do you know when human beings receive their soul? If yes, then please be ready with the related biblical verse for meditating in my next article.

As we continue to explore the continuity of prayer, we will delve deeper into the understanding of the human body and soul, and how to unceasingly glorify our Lord God.
