Severity of transgression:
It is essential to assess the severity of a person's transgression when they fail to love their neighbours. This is because those who do not love their neighbours do not love God, their Creator, either. In my previous article, I discussed the characteristics of a true Christian. If we continue to crucify Jesus despite being baptized, we are not genuine Christians.
Crucifixion of Jesus Continues:
Even today, we relentlessly attempt to kill the resurrected Jesus, who embodies love. We likely remain unaware that Jesus, who personifies love, humility, peace, forgiveness, compassion, endurance, and patience, cannot be permanently killed. Instead, we kill the love among our neighbours whenever we fail to love them due to our vices: envy, quarrels, estrangement, anger, greed, pride, hypocrisy, pretence, lust, adultery, and so on.
Therefore, it is written:
When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood! Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. (Isaiah 1:15-17, NIV)
Relentless Cruelty:
We are double murderers whenever we kill the love amongst our neighbours – first, we kill our neighbours’ love, and secondly, we simultaneously kill the love that is God. Jesus replied, emphasizing the importance of love: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.'" (Matthew 22:37-39, NIV)
Since we fail to love our neighbours as ourselves, it is written in Scripture: "…Your hands are full of blood!" (Isaiah 1:15, NIV) Indeed, we are the murderers of our neighbours’ love and God, who is love.
Humanity is Accountable for Their Cruelty:
Therefore, on Judgment Day, God will certainly take account of our cruelty in killing our neighbours’ love, as "God is love." (1 John 4:8, NIV) Remember! Love is the measure of Judgment Day.
