God’s Unceasing love for Humanity:
God, who created humanity in His own image and likeness, and is invisibly present, is our heavenly divine Father. Therefore, the entire human race is comprised of brothers and sisters. Even couples, before their marriage, are like brothers and sisters. Similarly, parents are first spiritual brothers and sisters to their children, and then their biological parents, since we all have only one heavenly Father. As Jesus commanded:
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. (Matthew 22:37-38, NIV)
God and Jesus Command the Same:
The unity of God's message is evident in the harmony between His commandments and Jesus' teachings. Thus, Jesus' first and greatest commandment (Matthew 22:37-38, NIV) reflects God's first three commandments revealed to humanity through Moses:
1. I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me.
2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain!
3. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Those who love their heavenly Father with all their heart, mind, and soul will never worship anything else – visible, invisible, or fabricated – besides God, the Creator. They will neither submit to nor align themselves with any form of evil or falsehood. They will always worship their God and be drawn to the truth, as Jesus' affirmation is recorded in Scripture:
I am the way and the truth and the life. … (John 14:6, NIV)
Principles to Love God:
To love God is to live a life that honours and glorifies Him. If we take care not to offend our heavenly Father, then we will always strive to glorify Him by keeping a distance from evil. We will not misuse the name of the Lord our God for selfish or worldly purposes. Therefore, we will strive to live by these principles every day, recognizing that each day is a gift from God. He creates each day to reflect His holiness, inviting us to live in harmony with His holiness and to honour the sanctity of each day. And in doing so, demonstrate our unwavering love for Him, as expressed in Jesus' first and greatest commandment:
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ (Matthew 22:37-38, NIV)
A Call to Adhere to Principles to Love God:
As we strive to live by these principles, let us remember that our love for God is reflected in our daily choices and actions. If we consistently adhere to the principles discussed above, our love for God, our Creator, will remain unwavering. Reflecting our love, loyalty, reverence, and devotion to Him, as the Scripture reminds us:
Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided. (Proverbs 16:6, NIV)
