Comprehending Truth: Essential for God's Kingdom

Jesus stood before Pilate, who posed a rather strange question: "What is truth?" (John 18:38, NIV). Yet, the embodiment of truth stood right before him, offering eternal life. Ironically, Pilate, the king of untruth, lacked knowledge of the truth. Alas, how can one immersed in untruth recognize truth? Without knowing the truth, how can one enter the kingdom of truth?

As Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6, NIV). If we live in untruth, how can we recognize truth? What is truth? Truth is Jesus; truth is Jesus as the King of kings. Truth is living in love, kindness, humility, forgiveness, peace, compassion, endurance, empathy, tolerance, and patience – essentially, living in the kingdom of truth.

The truth is that only those who live in truth are worthy of living in God's kingdom. Furthermore, when we live in truth, the truth residing within us will proclaim itself to others. As Jesus taught, "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:35, NIV) .

Living in truth advocates a life filled with love, kindness, humility, forgiveness, peace, compassion, empathy, endurance, tolerance, and patience. Jesus proclaimed and testified to a life of truth before us. We must also testify to a life of truth. Let us, therefore, embody the fullness of truth in our lives for God's kingdom, which cannot be achieved by merely reciting, "Your kingdom come."
