Failure to Instill God's Kingdom:
Let's estimate how many times a person recites the Lord's Prayer on average during their lifetime. How many times do we repeatedly say "Your kingdom come"? Undoubtedly, the Lord's Prayer is the most recited prayer on earth.
Assuming an average person recites the Lord's Prayer five times a day, and the average human lifespan is 70 years, we can calculate that the prayer is recited approximately 1,27,750 times (5 times/day × 365 days/year × 70 years).
Yet, God's kingdom – a kingdom of love, humility, forgiveness, peace, compassion, endurance, and patience – is hardly evident amongst us. Why? Because God's kingdom cannot be established merely by reciting prayers. It requires uniting our entire being – from head to toe – in truth.
Our entire being must commit to unity in truth. If any part of us succumbs to weaknesses, committing sin – envy, fighting, quarrels, anger, lust, adultery, greed, selfishness, arrogance, pride, hypocrisy, pretense, deception, backbiting, estrangement, conflict, and more – then we are not united. Under such circumstances, how can we establish God's kingdom?
A Paradox in Prayer:
“Your kingdom come" (Luke 11:2, NIV) are the words of God that we must obey. Jesus emphasizes this when He says “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice. (Luke 8:21, NIV) Therefore, it is essential for humanity to fully obey God's words, "Your kingdom come." Aren't we merely recite these words, expecting God's kingdom to come without putting in genuine effort?
We recite the words, wishing for God's kingdom, but fail to make a real commitment to instill it. Consequently, humanity fails to establish God's kingdom in their lifetime. To succeed, we must control our entire being, from head to toe, and unite in harmony to obey God's words. Only then can we truly work towards establishing God's kingdom.
