God's Purpose in Endowing Humanity with Soul: A Reflection on Divine Image and Likeness

God, by creating humanity in His image and likeness, creates humans with the gift of righteousness and endows them with perfect souls. With creation, humanity is endowed with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, including virtues such as love, kindness, forgiveness, peace, compassion, endurance, patience, and humility. Human existence would have been marked by strife and discord if God had chosen a different approach to creation. However, children, at least in their early years, do not engage in strife. Nevertheless, from adolescence onwards, humans gradually lose their innate virtues due to worldly desires.

Furthermore, if God had not endowed humanity with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, it would be inconsistent for Him to expect humans to live by the religion of love, humanity, and friendship. Indeed, God endows humanity with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, enabling humans to discern good from evil and follow His commandments, as outlined in the scripture:

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20, NIV)

Reflecting on the Holy Spirit's Gifts and Fruits: Necessary for Obedience:

God's expectation for humanity to obey the Ten Commandments without the Holy Spirit's gifts and fruits would be unrealistic, and similarly Jesus’, as His command recorded in the scripture:

"If you love me, keep my commands." (John 14:15, NIV)

If God commands us to refrain from stealing, He has endowed us with the Holy Spirit's gifts and fruits to obey. Failing to utilize these gifts and fruits, bestowed upon us at creation, hinders our ability to live by the religion of love, humanity, and friendship. Those who neglect them lose more, while those who utilize them gain more, as stated in the scripture:

"Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them." (Matthew 13:12, NIV)

Why Ritual without Harmony?

We enter the human community, the Garden of love, after the ‘Baptism of Water’, to utilize the gift and fruits of the Holy spirit, but unfortunately, we are confined within the boundary of our physical churches, filled with divisive and separatist nature, and practicing superficial God’s adoration. Who benefits from such an adoration and to what extent?

Benefits of Being Religious:

Those entering the human community, the Garden of love, after baptism of repentance by water, the ‘Baptism of Water’ and ‘Baptism of Repentance’, utilize the gift and fruits of the Holy Spirit by living by the religion of love, humanity and friendship, follow God's commands. Scripture states:

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. (Psalm 84:11, NIV)

Because such individual live and die for God, and gradually progress towards the perfectness as God expects, as written in the scripture:

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:48, NIV)

Such people tirelessly strive to unite with Trinity to form Quaternity by utilizing the gift and fruits of the Holy Spirit, as Jesus’ prayer is recorded in the scripture:

"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." (John 17:20-21, NIV)

Jesus' Thirst for Our Oneness:

We won't benefit from staying in a divided and limited space filled with divisiveness, separatism, and partialism. We will displease God until we enter the human community, the Garden of love, by utilizing the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit and living by the religion of love, humanity, and friendship, as written in Scripture:

"You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.'" (Matthew 15:7-9, NIV)

Come! Let's enter the human community, the Garden of love, by utilizing the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit to satisfy our thirsty Creator, God, as His voice is recorded in Scripture:

"I am thirsty." (John 19:28, NIV)

Amen!
