A Sincere Request: Before proceeding, please review my previous articles, listed in order, for context. If you've already read them, please continue.
The Parts of John the Baptist's Baptism: There are two parts to the ‘Baptism of Repentance’ which John the Baptist administered by water:
The first Part is the ‘Baptism of Repentance’: which frees people from their personal sins. This is not necessary for the innocent, such as unborn babies, newborns, infants, and children, who are unaware of sin and do not commit it. They live in innocence, learning right from wrong as they grow. John the Baptist did not call the innocent 'children of vipers', but instead addressed those who had lived sinful lives, emphasizing the need for true repentance. This is in line with Jesus' preaching, as mentioned in the scripture: 'From that time on Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.' (Matthew 4:17, NIV)
The ‘Baptism of Repentance’ is actually the sacrament of repentance and confession. We must regularly practice the sacrament to escape the depths of sin and find peace. Therefore, it's right to say that to remain sinless, confession with true repentance must be done as soon as sin is committed. It's more satisfying and just to be God's children through true repentance after sinning, rather than being children of Satan due to sin, as the scripture reminds: 'No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish.' (Luke 13:5, NIV)
The Second Part is the 'Baptism of Water': applicable to people of all ages, as it cleanses from the severity of ancestral sins and guides them to God's path of truth. If anyone wishes to be baptized in their teenage years or later, they must undergo the 'Baptism of Repentance,' meaning sacrament of repentance and confession, prior to the 'Baptism of Water.' Anyone not free from their personal sins cannot imagine freeing themselves from others' sins, meaning ancestral sins. It is crucial to dispel the preconceived notion that the 'Baptism of Water' cleanses both personal and ancestral sins simultaneously. This is why John the Baptist administered baptism to teenagers and adults, covering 'Baptism of Repentance' and 'Baptism of Water,' called 'Baptism of Repentance' by water, as written in Scripture: "I baptize you with water for repentance..." (Matthew 3:11, NIV).
The Singular Nature of Baptism of Water: Notably, in this context, anyone who has once received the 'Baptism of Water' is freed from the stains of ancestral sins in their soul and does not need to repeat it, as written in the scripture: Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” (John 13:10, NIV)
This means the one who has received the 'Baptism of Water', having already been cleansed, need not repeat it; the bath is no longer required. However, such individuals require the 'Baptism of Repentance', a sacrament of repentance and confession, to wash their feet and cleanse the impurities accumulated from straying onto crooked paths of deceit. As states in the biblical verse: Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” (John 13:10, NIV)
Baptism of Water: A Call to Ongoing Repentance: Those who administer and receive the 'Baptism of Water' must reflect sincerely, asking themselves: Are we absolutely pure, or have we accumulated impurities from straying onto crooked paths of deceit? These questions are valid as stated in the scripture: Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not think you can say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. The axe is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. (Matthew 3:8-10)
This means that, having received the 'Baptism of Water', it would be inappropriate not to undergo the 'Baptism of Repentance' (sacrament of repentance and confession), for Jesus desires to cleanse us through His divine water in the sacrament of repentance and confession.
